The Astro Weenie Christmas Tree, My Kitchen, Los Angeles, 2006

The Astro Weenie Christmas Tree, My Kitchen, Los Angeles, 2006

This is what do you get when you stud a tinfoil wrapped Styrofoam cone with cocktail weenies, green olives, black olives, pearl onions, baby dills, pineapple chunks, pummeled carrots, radishes, broccoli and cauliflower then top it with a slice of star fruit star! I just couldn’t help myself! I had to do it!

An edible Christmas tree in a 1960s slide from the Retro Holiday Slide Show inspired me to create this timeless tower of tidbits – this beauteous beacon of bites. It’s the smartest savory sampler that you will see this season!

You can make one too! See the instructional video on YouTube.com

Post a pic of your version on the ASTRO WEENIE CHRISTMAS TREE blog

THE RETRO HOLIDAY SLIDE SHOW begins Wed Nov 29th at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Click here for tickets.

Here’s to your Astro Weenie Christmas Tree and YOU!

You’re the most Mr. Phoenix!! When you arrive at my house with your Astro Weenie Christmas Tree I expect you to place it in the center of the table where it ought to be! Kisses from Tiki Kiliki and Pooch!

  2. Mike from Cleveland Says:

Happy Holidays charles! Although we here in Ohio do celebrate the Holidays with “varied” types of Industrial meat products,we have yet to expand into Sausage tree decorations.Do you have to spray the Tree with Shellac? Christmas is still a month away, and will the weenies and veggies deflate a bit by X-mas?
    Freezing in Cleveland,Ohio Mike
P.S. please send a can of warm weather from L.A.

  3. Ellen Bloom Says:

Charles!!! That was, by far, the best instructional kitchen video I’ve EVER seen! I’m running right over to STAT’s now to get one of those tree forms for my own holiday sideboard!!! You are so inspirational. Happy Turke-Day, Darling!

By the way, did I notice an absence of kitchen curtains on your window over the sink? We MUST do something about that! Let me know.

Way to get into the holiday spirit, Charles. I wish I could go to the Retro Holiday slide show, but I’m stuck here in Columbus, OH. I saw the youtube movie about your Disneyland tour. It allowed me to experience it from my computer. I have your books on my Christmas list. You rock Charles!!!!!

  8. DavidinBerkeley Says:

  9. Katie Says:
